Ministerial list: Buhari nominates serving lawmaker who dumped APC

One of the newly inaugurated members of the House of Representatives, Emeka Nwajiuba, is among the 43 ministerial nominees of President Muhammadu Buhari, The PUNCH can report.

Nwajiuba, a native of Ehime-Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, is representing Okigwe South federal constituency.

He was elected on the platform of the Accord Party.

President Buhari nominated him to represent Imo State in the 43 names he sent to the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan.

Nwajiuba, a former member of the All Progressives Congress, had defected to AP after a running battle with the former governor of his state, Mr Rochas Okorocha.

The lawmaker, a foundation member of the APC, served in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003, and was said to be the secretary of the Constitution Drafting Committee which produced the document that gave birth to APC.

Although Nwajiuba has yet to announce his defection back to the APC on the floor of the House, his spokesman had said he would return to the party.

Indeed chieftains of the APC in the South-East had endorsed him for the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

To become a minister, he will have to resign his membership of the House of Reps.
