Lagos records 74 new cases of Coronavirus; rise to 504 and 16 deaths

The Lagos government on Thursday, April 23, has recorded another 74 new cases of Covid-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the state to 504 and 16 deaths.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) who made the announcement on Wednesday night, on its official Twitter account, saying Lagos recorded 74 cases.

The new cases are spread across Lagos, Edo, Kastina, Ogun, Adamawa, Delta, Kwara and Oyo states as well as Abuja, the country capital.

According to the breakdown, Lagos recorded 74 cases; five in Katsina, four in Ogun, two in Delta, Two in Edo, one in Kwara, one in Oyo, one in the FCT and one in Adamawa.

NCDC said, “On the 22nd of April 2020, 91 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria. Till date, 873 cases have been confirmed, 197 cases have been discharged and 28 deaths have been recorded in Nigeria.

Breakdown of cases by state: Lagos-504, FCT-119, Kano-73, Ogun-24, Katsina-21, Osun-20, Oyo-17, Edo-17, Kwara-10, Kaduna- nine, Akwa Ibom- nine, Borno- nine, Bauchi- eight, Delta- six, Gombe- five, Ekiti- four, Ondo- three, Rivers- three, Jigawa- two, Enugu-two, Niger- two, Abia- two, Benue- one, Anambra- one, Sokoto- one and Adamawa- one.”

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Ministry of Health said 16 deaths have been recorded from coronavirus-related complications in the state.

It tweeted on Tuesday, “Two COVID-19 deaths were however recorded, bringing the total number of #COVID-19 related deaths in Lagos to 16”.
