Lagos 2019: APC’s House Begins Gaining Order As Fashola, Oki Join Unity Force

For Lagos State chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC) to have one house before forthcoming primary elections in the state, the party leaders and concerned elders have began consultations and reconciliation moves which could assist the party in resolving issues among warring faction of the APC.

As gathered, the move was said to have been an outcome of Director General of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu Campaign Organisation ( BOSCO), Tayo Ayinde, intervention, whom, on assuming office of the campaign group barely two weeks ago, felt there was need to have aggrieved members of the party back into the house,

The Guild can authoritatively report that, with the intervention, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing and Lagos state former Governor, Babatude Fashola, and Chairman, Factional APC, Fouad Oki, were back to support the unity force, just as APC’s former National Legal Adviser, Muiz Banire, did few days ago.

It would be recalled that the Guild reported that Banire agreed to support his party and go by decision of leaders on choice candidate nominated for the gubernatorial race, the battle of which involves the state’s incumbent Government, Akinwunmi Ambode, former Commissioner for Establishment, Babajide Sonwo-Olu, and former Commissioner for Works, Femi Hamzat, as contenders.

Meanwhile, the three contenders had been advised by Governor Advisory Committee (GAC), to go through direct primaries and test their popularity.

Besides, a source, who spoke to The Guild on the development of Lagos chapter of APC, disclosed that Ayinde had been able to talked in Fashola on the need for unity of the party’s members, and that the DG also met with Oki on Monday, during which they chart path way forward for the party, particularly on his candidate Sanwo-olu.

He hinted that the body language of bother the minister and the APC’s factional leader after discussion with Ayinde indicated that the duo were on side of Sanwolu and that they prefer his candidature.

He added that Oki indicated his interest to work for the party and as well ready to go in same direction on choice of candidate for 2019 governorship election.

The source confided in The Guild that both Oki and Fashola had anointed Sanwo-olu as their choice of candidate and that they were ready to give adequate support to him on and after primary election.

“Fashola and Sanwo-olu have spoken on phone and the former believes the latter would deliver type of government the state want”, he added.

Another one who was present during both Ayinde and Oki meeting, said that the factional leader advised Sanwo-olu to meet with GAC’s members and as well as other leaders of the party for serious consultation before the state’s primaries.

To him, Oki had okay Sanwo-olu and the intervention of the DG had began yielding positive result, with more aggrieved members of the party willing to return to their root and have one house..

“Ayinde is still speaking to more people so as to have one house before the primaries and the move is not to force any member to vote for Sanwo-olu”, she stated.

Through finding from sources in BOSCO, The Guild learnt that 377 chancellors from 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) had also on Monday endorsed Sanwo-olu and that the aspirant had began meeting with members of GAC and other leaders of the party.
