APC crisis: Tinubu’s plan of controlling ruling party backfiring – Bafarawa

The former governor of Sokoto state and former Presidential aspirant, Attahiru Bafarawa, has said the happenings in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were due to the “insincerity” of some political actors.

Bafarawa, a former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), specifically stated that the crisis in the APC is due to the plan by its national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to have full control on the party.

According to the Guardian said Bafarawa told that the power-play in the ruling party was expected, claiming that shortly after the APC was registered, “Tinubu decided on admitting erstwhile state governors elected on the platform of the PDP with the proviso that the entire structure of the new party in their respective states should be handed over to the newcomers.

He said while the decision to reward the five defecting PDP governors from Adamawa, Kano, Kwara, Rivers, and Sokoto with APC structures in their states was taken to strengthen the party’s financial capacity to match the then ruling political grouping.

“It later became obvious that the ploy was targeted at himself (Tinubu) and Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau,” Bafarawa added.

Urging politicians and leaders to strive all time to do good to all men, Bafarawa alleged that the internal movement within the APC “could be a way of rewarding Tinubu for his style of politics.

He added that “those who noticed that he (Tinubu) was cleverly manipulating the party for his own interest seem to be moving against him.”

Meanwhile, the coalition of Northern Nigerian Youth has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to halt any attempt that can lead to maltreatment or embarrassment of any kind on the personality and Office of the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

Speaking to the journalists in Kano on Monday, September 23, Mallam Yusuf Abdulmalik, leader of the coalition, said he believes that the news going around the media that the presidency is moving to reduce the powers of the vice president and subsequently sideline him, is a rumour.

He said any attempt to do so would label President Buhari and by extension the north as ungrateful people, creating a bad image for the region to the entire world.
