The Truth Behind Shettima’s Wife’s Alleged Rejection of Female Police ADC

The vice president’s wife, Hajia Nana Shettima, has not rejected a female police aide-de-camp (ADC) assigned to her, contrary to some reports on social media.

This was clarified by her aide, Ameen Amshi, who said that Mrs Shettima simply chose to retain the ADC that served her when she was the governor’s wife in Borno State.

Amshi said that assigning security details to VIPs follows a standard procedure that involves screening and selecting the most suitable personnel from a pool of candidates. He said that Mrs Shettima followed this procedure and approved the ADC that she was familiar with and trusted.

He said that the Shettima family has a reputation for maintaining long-term relationships with their staff and workers, and that the vice president also kept the same security details that he had when he was the governor of Borno. He said that Mrs Shettima did not act differently or disrespectfully towards the female police ADC.

He said: “It is important to correct the news of the alleged rejection of a female police ADC by HE Nana Shettima, Vice President’s wife, during her inauguration. The news has been circulating on social media, but it is not accurate.

“HE Nana Shettima is not new to the corridors of power and has previously worked with an ADC when she served as the governor’s wife for eight years in Borno. Therefore, the same ADC who worked with her in Borno as the governor’s wife was present at her inauguration.

“The Shettima family is known for maintaining long-term relationships with their staff and workers, like retaining the security details that served the Vice President when he was Governor.

“Given this track record, it’s unlikely that his wife would act differently, and she has always prioritized following due process in her official dealings, including assigning security personnel to VIPs and VVIPs.”
