APC Presidential Ticket: Why Yahaya Bello Stormed Out Of Meeting – El-Rufai

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed the reason why his counterpart from Kogi State, Governor Yahaya Bello angrily left a meeting of Northern Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Newsflash Nigeria reports that Governor Bello drew reactions on Monday after he was captured on camera angrily withdrawing himself from a meeting said to be part of the APC’s preparations for the presidential primaries today in Abuja.

The North Central state governor could be heard in the viral video saying he won’t take whatever it is they are offering.

In the video, Nasarawa State Governor, Engr Abdullahi Sule tried to pacify his Kogi State colleague, but Bello was not having it.

He said: “I won’t take it. I am going to address the press now.”

Newsflash Nigeria learnt that the APC leaders were meeting to finalize plans to adopt a consensus presidential candidate – from the southern region as earlier agreed upon.

Giving a clearer hint on what transpired, the Governor of Kaduna State, Malam El-Rufai who spoke with the press, said 13 of the 14 APC governors from the North agreed that APC’s presidential ticket should be zoned to the South.

El-Rufai said Governor Bello who is also an APC presidential hopeful, however, disagreed with their resolution and decided not to attend the meeting.

He said: “The governor of Kogi State chose to excuse himself from the meeting with Mr President because he does not agree with our position.

“There are 14 APC governors out of the 19 northern States. 13 of us are on one page on this subject and we all came to see the president.

“But the governor of Kogi State excused himself, and he is within his democratic rights to excuse himself,” El-Rufai said.
