[PHOTOS] Lagos rally: Women traditional worshippers lead men to Ojota for Yoruba Nation

The Yoruba women, who dressed in white special attires led the Lagos rally called by Yoruba separatist group, Ilana Omo Odua on Saturday in defiance of threats by the police and other security forces of the Nigerian government.

The agitators, numbering over 100, had stormed the Gani Fawehinmi Park waving ‘Oduduwa nation’ flags and banners and clamouring for a ‘sovereign’ state.

The area is heavily guarded by officers of the Lagos police command and the military, armed to the teeth, Newsflash Nigeria can report.

Unfazed by the presence of the security forces, men, women and youths decked in secessionist regalia, banners and placards continued to chant pro-secession mantras.

Newsflash Nigeria witnessed police spraying water cannons to disperse the swelling crowd.

“Yoruba Nation now!

We can no longer tolerate the invasion of our farmlands and the rape of our daughters. No going back,” a female protester told Newsflash Nigeria at the venue.

“Oduduwa Nation- No going back

Igboho- Osha!!” Another demonstrator yelled.

Meanwhile, A yoghurt seller, identified simply as Jumoke, has been killed by bullets reportedly fired by a security operative dispersing Yoruba Nation agitators at the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos.

Our reporter, who sighted the girl’s corpse, observed that bullets had ripped open the victim’s stomach. She is said to be 14 years old.

She was reportedly displaying drinks at a shop when the bullet hit her.

Her body has been covered with a piece of cloth as a crowd gathered at the spot.

Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Igboho has been holding rallies across southwestern states for the past weeks but authorities sternly warned him against staging a protest in Lagos.

His residence in Ibadan was in the wee hours of Thursday invaded by state actors who killed two persons and arrested 12 others. Some properties were either destroyed or carted away as exhibits.

The State Security Service later declared Igboho wanted, alleging that he stockpiled assault weapons to cause insurrection against the Nigerian state.
