Two Men Arrested For Generating Fake Bank Alerts

The police in Anambra state have arrested two men notorious for defrauding traders in the state using fake bank alerts.

Haruna Mohammed, the state police command spokesperson, in a statement released, said the men, Eko Charles, 25, and Rabiu Idris, 24, both from Gariki, Enugu state, were arrested in August 1st following inteligence report.

Haruna says the suspects who specialise in defrauding innocent traders by generating fake bank payment alerts, went to the shop of one Godwin Chukwu of No. 59 Zik Avenue, Awka on July 31st to buy television sets.

They fraudulently generated and sent fake SMS alert for the payment of N200,000 to his phone and he released two 43 inch Television sets oblivious of their fraudulent act.

The criminals went to the same shop the next day, did the same thing and collected 4 Television sets and other accessories all valued at N230,000.

Trouble however started when Chukwu went to the bank to withdraw the money but was told by the bank that no payment was made into his account.
