PHOTOS: Sunday Igboho storms Igangan town over killings

Popular Yoruba Freedom Fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Monday evening, stormed the Igangan town in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Newsflash Nigeria reports that Sunday Igboho’s visit was to access the level of damage done during last weekend’s invasion of the town by suspected Fulani herdsmen and to also relate with the villagers.

Recall that over 11 people of the community were killed in the early hours of Sunday while several houses, including the Palace of Ashi of Igangan were burnt by the criminals.

In a now-viral video, Igboho entered the town in a convoy with many residents cheering.

He was spotted waving to people from a white Toyota Hilux while his supporters escorted him into the town with their motorbikes.

During the visit, it was learned Igboho also tried to comb the forests.

Although Igboho’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, could not be reached by our reporter to confirm his principal’s mission in the town, the video of the visit to the town was posted on his Facebook page.

Scores of okada riders were seen hailing him and riding beside the Toyota Hilux which conveyed him to the town.

Igboho was seen waving at the people and acknowledging cheers from them from inside the vehicle.

The Convener of Igangan Development Advocates, Oladiran Oladokun, also confirmed to our reporter that Igboho visited the town but he said he was not around during the visit.

Recall that Igboho had visited the town on January 22 over atrocities committed by suspected herdsmen.

Ibarapa area has been under the spotlight for more than five years with clashes erupting intermittently between farmers and herders, resulting in deaths and life-changing injuries.

In a recent development, two Fulani leaders in the town, Seriki Saliu and Iskilu Wakili were ejected from Ibarapa land by local security outfits after they were accused of conniving with kidnappers who abducted some of the indigenes of Ibarapa area for ransom. Some of the kidnapped victims were killed even after ransom was paid.
