Soldiers Enforcing Lockdown Beat Man to Stupor in Ekiti

Following the Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi’s directive to lockdown the state for another 14 days (now day 8) in order to battle the spread of Covid-19, otherwise known Coronavirus, two young men yet to be identified on Monday, April 20, was beaten ruthlessly by soldiers for allegedly not stay at home in Ikole Ekiti, Ikole Local government area of the state.

Source gathered that the young boys were beaten by the soldiers enforcing lockdown in the state despite the fact that they are not on a motorcycle, popularly known Okada, but they were on their street to buy food items to eat but the soldiers they don’t listen to them, before they beat them to stupor.

An eyewitness said, “It is important to enlighten some overzealous men in uniform, please carefully read the rules of engagement and rules guiding the lockdown, here is not an animal farm!”

Another witness said “I’ll never criticize the soldiers for these inhuman and brutal acts, but I will rather blame the government for involving them in civil matters, what are the Police, Civil Defense Corps and Peace Corps doing and what’s their relevance if they can’t be used to curb our people.

“These soldiers are trained to kill, brutalize, and destroy so why involving them in this kind of matter, why not assign them to guard our borders?

“This act will never cease to happen unless the governments do the needful

Stay safe and stay home”

Meanwhile, Ekiti State on Monday night, April 20, has recorded a new case of Covid-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the state to 4.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Monday night, announced one case in Ekiti State, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 665.

NCDC made the announcement on Monday night, on its official Twitter account.

The new cases are spread across Kano, Gombe, Kaduna, Borno, Abia, Sokoto and Ekiti states as well as Abuja, the country capital.

According to the breakdown, Kano recorded 23 cases; five in Gombe, three in Kaduna, two in Borno, two in Abia, one in the FCT, one in Sokoto and one in Ekiti.
