PDP grants Gov Obaseki, his deputy, Shuaibu waiver to contest primary

The national chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, also confirmed Obaseki and his deputy Shuaibu waivers on his verified Facebook page.

The Peoples Democratic Party has granted the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki a waiver to contest the party’s governorship primary in the state.

The Party also approved a waiver for Obaseki deputy, Philip Shuaibu

This was announced by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, shortly after the governor joined the party.

“@OfficialPDPNig grants waiver for @GovernorObaseki to enable him contests the gubernatorial primary of our great party. Party has also approved waiver for his deputy, Philip Shuaibu,” he tweeted.

The national chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, also confirmed  Obaseki and his deputy Shuaibu waivers on his verified Facebook page.

“The PDP NWC in exercising the power of NEC in accordance with the PDP constitution met and approved the waiver as requested by the ward executive for His Excellency Governor Godwin Obaseki to participate in all activities of the PDP including voting and be voted for in any intra party elections,” Mr Secondus said.

Obaseki had few hours ago joined the PDP at an elaborate ceremony in Benin, the state capital.

He was disqualified by his former party, All Progressives Congress, from seeking re-election allegedly for submitting questionable certificates.
