‘Emi Lokan’ only referring to Ogun people, not Nigerians – Tinubu Campaign Spokesman, Keyamo

A spokesman for the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation, Festus Keyamo has said the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, referring Emi Lokan to only Ogun people and not Nigerians.

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, who doubles as the spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, stated this during Tuesday night’s live episode of Politics Today on Channel TV.

Recall that the APC presidential candidate had claimed that he was the next person to become the President of Nigeria, saying, “Emi Lokan” in English meaning “It is my turn.”

Tinubu said in Abeokuta in April last year during his campaign for APC presidential primary election.

The former president Olusegun Obasanjo, on Sunday, January 1, 2022, condemned the APC presidential candidate for saying ’Emi Lokan’.

The former Nigerian President saying it’s wrong attitude and mentality for someone in Nigeria to say “Emi Lokan”.

In a letter on Sunday, Obasanjo said: “Let me say straight away that ‘Emi Lokan’ (My turn) and ‘I have paid my dues’ are one and the same thing and are wrong attitude and mentality for the leadership of Nigeria now.”

Those claims, according to Obasanjo, “cannot form the new pedestal to reinvent and to invest in a new Nigeria based on an All-Nigeria Government for the liberation and restoration of Nigeria.”

Obasanjo said no individual can claim he has the absolute solutions to Nigeria’s problems, stating that “the solution should be in ‘we’ and ‘us’ and not in ‘me’ and ‘I’.”

Newsflash Nigeria learnt that Tinubu’s billboards Emilokan were erected across the South West and part of Kogi, Kwara where they speak the Yoruba language.

Emi Lo Kan

Reacting, the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation, Festus Keyamo, said Tinubu only referred “Emi Lokan” to Ogun APC delegates and not the whole Nigerians.

He said, “Tinubu wasn’t speaking to Nigerians when he said ‘Emi Lokan’, he was speaking to APC delegates in Ogun State”.
