Osun 2018: Oshiomhole Acted Illegally Over Direct Primary – APC Aspirant

Crisis rocking the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Osun state ahead of September 22, 2018 Osun Governorship election is deeper as Adekunle Adegoke, a governorship aspirant of Friday 20 July All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in the state has described the Party National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole decision to conduct direct primary in the state unconstitutional.

Oshiomhole on Monday announced that aspirants for the September 22 governorship election in the state will be picked through direct primary.

Adegoke speaking on a radio programme monitored in Osogbo on Thursday said the National Chairman acted unconstitutionally.

”He is treading the unconstitutional path because the chairman alone of the party cannot single handedly  just announced without National Executive Committee (NEC) to approve the guidelines, no guidelines, he hasn’t said there is a guidelines for the primary, he just said they are going to be using direct primary in the party starting from Osun”.

”If that is the case, there must be a guidelines approved by NEC, for NEC  to be able to sanction just a particular procedure, notice of 14 days must be given in an ordinary situation, if National Working Committee (NWC) is the one conveying an emergency meeting of the NEC, there must be notice of seven days given to the NEC”.

Adegoke alleged that there is no membership register of the party members in the state that they are just trying to manipulate one for the primary election.

”They don’t have a list of registered members, there was a report yesterday that they are just trying to manipulate the membership register in the office of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu that Kabiru Aboyede is the one coordinating the process, they don’t have any members register for the election that is why they shifted the primary from today to tomorrow”.

”Day before yesterday, they distributed forms in some local government in Ife and Ijesha land, they collected INEC voters register, not APC membership register, they gave it to some ward executives to be extracting APC member names on the register”.

He also alleged that the primary process has been skewed to favour Gboyega Oyetola, Chief of Staff to the governor.

“At the level of the state governmemnt, some party executives were invited by state officials working for Gboyega Oyetola to ensure his emergent, they summoned the meeting of all local government part chairmen, they rejected him, some women leaders started cursing them, we have audio of the meeting where they were invited”.

”When they saw that the man has been rejected by all delegates, when they saw that there is no way they could win delegate primary they started intimidating party members they cannot force to vote for Gboyega Oyetola, they have been distributing money’.

”I am not afraid of anything if they can take me to court I will produce documents, I will call witness that will show that those documents emanated from them”.

”Oyetola doesn’t have any credential to intimidate anybody, he is not a politician on the field, he has no structure, he came out in February or March this year when he was instructed to contest”.
