Nigerian Army Brigadier General Dies During Annual Fitness Test

The Nigerian Army has lost one of its senior officers, Brigadier General I. M. Ahmadu, who died while participating in the Second Annual Physical Training Test for 2023.

Ahmadu was an Artillery Officer who worked in the Army Headquarters Department of Special Services and Programmes.

According to a reliable military source, Ahmadu collapsed while running and was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Monday evening. The source said that the cause of death was not yet known, but that an investigation would be conducted.

The source also said that Ahmadu was buried on the same day according to Islamic rites. He described Ahmadu as a dedicated and professional officer who served the nation with honour and dignity.

“Sadly, an Army Brigadier General lost his life while running during the Second Annual Physical Training Test for the year 2023.

“His name is Brigadier General I.M. Ahmadu, an Artillery Officer currently serving in the Army Headquarters Department of Special Services and Programmes.

“The General has however been buried this evening according to Islamic rite,” the source said.

The Second Annual Physical Training Test is a mandatory exercise for all Nigerian Army personnel to assess their physical fitness and readiness for combat operations. The test consists of running, push-ups, sit-ups, and other activities.
