One person has been confirmed dead with forty others presently under observation in Isolation centres for suspected Lassa fever cases.
The suspected cases are in the three Isolation centres set up by the Osun State government in the state.
The chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Osun State chapter, Dr Tokunbo Olajumoke disclosed this to newsmen when the association embarked on Lassa Fever sensitization programme to all major markets in Osogbo the State capital.
Newsflash247 correspondent gathered that Dr Olajumoke said the confirmed Lassa fever case who died at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital was brought in from Ondo state, hence the need to isolate all others who have had contact with the case to avoid a spread of the dreaded disease.
He explained that the sensitization tour is to allow the public to understand the effect of the epidemic and be responsive when any case is sighted around them.
He urged the federal and state governments to increase the awareness and set up diagnostic centres within the state for easy diagnosis to avoid the spread of the Lassa Fever.
