Lagos records 11 new cases of Coronavirus

Lagos State government on Tuesday night, April 14, has recorded another 11 new cases of the COVID-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the state to 214 and 7 deaths.

This is coming a few hours after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control announced 19 new cases in the country on April 14.

The Lagos recorded a total of 25 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, highest to be recorded by any state in one day in Nigeria

Giving an additional update via its Twitter handle at 11pm, NCDC said, “Eleven new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Lagos State.

“As of 11:00 pm on the 14th of April, there are 373 confirmed cases of #COVID-19 reported in Nigeria. 99 have been discharged with 11 deaths.”

Of the 19 cases earlier announced, 14 were recorded in Lagos, two in the Federal Capital Territory, one each in Kano, Akwa Ibom, and Edo states.

NCDC added, “Currently, Lagos has 214 cases, FCT- 58, Osun- 20, Edo- 18, Oyo- 11, Ogun – nine, Bauchi – six, Kaduna – six, Akwa Ibom – six, Katsina – five, Delta – three, Enugu – two, Ekiti – two, Rivers – two, Kwara – four, Ondo – three, Benue – one, Niger – one, Anambra – one and Kano – three.”

Newsflash247 reports that another coronavirus-related death was recorded in Lagos State on Tuesday.

Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, said the deceased is a 56-year-old Nigerian man, who returned from the United States.

Six of the 11 fatalities in Nigeria were recorded in Lagos, two in Abuja, while Edo, Katsina, and Delta states recorded one each, Newsflash247 reports.

The newly-released statistics showed that the virus had spread to 19 states and the FCT.
