Kogi Election: After Rolls Royce gift, monarch confers traditional titles on Gov Yahaya Bello, Deputy

Ahead of the November 16th Governorship election in Kogi State, the Attah of Igala and President, Kogi State Traditional Council, HRM Dr. Micheal Ameh Oboni II, has conferred Igala traditional title on Governor Yahaya Bello, as the Oga-Onu-Ogu-Attah of the Igala kingdom after received the car gift from the government.

The event was held on Saturday at the palace of the Attah of Igala, Idah and had in attendance dignitaries, particularly the deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Ahmed Idris Wase.

According to the DailyPost, “the Attah of Igala noted that, the conferment of traditional titles by governor Yahaya Bello were very rare gesture as he was always keen at giving such titles to worthy individuals.

This follows an earlier gift of Rolls Royce dolled out to the Igala king by the governor’s allies.

But the traditional ruler asserted that those who were conferred with the traditional titles were well deserving sons and friends of Igala kingdom who have used their positions to add value to the lives of the people.

Governor Bello in his remarks, on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the royal father and the entire Igala kingdom for such a privileged gesture.

He revealed that since his visit to the Attah’s palace when he was to contest at the APC primaries in 2015, the traditional ruler adopted him as a son, adding that he has been privileged to stand on the shoulder of a giant.

Making reference to a quote by Attah, the governor pointed out that the people of the state, particularly the Igala, Ebira and Okun were all descendants from Kwararafa, adding that those who discriminate people of different ethnic and peddled ethnic bigotry were the real enemies mitigating the progress of the state.

Governor Bello described the Attah’s gesture as a proof that he was a true father of the state, noting that whoever speaks against his action would be referred to history.

The governor pointed out that his administration has made tremendous effort at ensuring the unity and togetherness of the state by making sure that persons in the state irrespective of their ethnicity or religion were treated with equity and fairness.

He affirmed that his administration was on the right path in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the state and would not rest on its oars until such desires were actualised.

Traditional titles were also conferred on the Deputy Governor of the State, Honourable Edward Onoja and the Secretary to the State Government Dr Mrs. Folashade Ayoade Arike as the Olimele-Attah and Omi Ekele-Attah of the Igala Kingdom respectively

Meanwhile, Newsflash247 had earlier reported that the appointees of Governor Yahaya Bello’s government and other All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains of Igala extraction have presented Rolls Royce Phantom to the traditional ruler, Attah Igala, Dr Michael Ameh-Oboni II.

Igala is the largest ethnic group in Kogi state and represents about 45% of voters in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

The gift to the well-respected monarch is seen as a strategy to court his support as the APC goes into the election.

The government appointees were led by the newly deputy governor of the state, Chief Edward Onoja , Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho who the two most senior politicians from Kogi East senatorial district of the state where the Igalas occupy.

Other members of the delegation are APC members of the national and the state assemblies from Kogi East, commissioners and special advisers from the senatorial district.

Speaking at the presentation yesterday, the Deputy Governor who holds the traditional title of Olimene of Attah said, “HRM Attah Igala as King Of the 9th Largest Ethnic Nationality in Nigeria is the face of the Igala nation and his appearance must show class,royalty and purity.

We give thanks to Governor Yahaya Bello who lifted a lot of progressive minded and passionate leaders in just few years.”

Senator Jibrin Isah in his remark commended the young but vibrant Deputy Governor for believing in the land of his birth and placing the people first.

“A new Igala land has emerged. This is the same way we jointly built The “Unyi Udama Amo ma Igala”( Igala Unity House) under the able leadership of His Excellency, Chief Edward Onoja and we are set to complete two guest houses at Ayingba- Dekina And Ankpa for the exclusive use of our royal father the Attah Igala. We are not Billionaires but united lovers of their kingdom.”

One of the aides of the Attah Igala commended the state governor , for the confidence he has reposed in Chief Edward Onoja, the state deputy governor.

“In fact, Kogi East with has produced great sons like Sen. Ahmadu Ali , Dr Alex Kadiri, Attai Aidoko, Nicholas Ugbane,former Governors Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada.

But outside, Prince Abubakar Audu of blessed memory, no Igala son has shown love to the Igala nation like this grandson of ours, Edward Onoja has done. We thank His Excellency for believing in him”.
