IDF, Ogoga mourn ex-gov Olumilua

Ogoga of lkere kingdom, Oba Adejimi Adu Alagbado has described the late former Governor of Old Ondo State, Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua as a distinguished lkere son who in his lifetime contributed his quota to Ekiti development.

Ikere Development Forum, IDF, and the Ogoga of Ikere Kingdom, Oba Samuel Adejimi, have mourned the death of former Governor of old Ondo State, Evangelist Bamidele Ishola Olumilua.

Olumilua who served as Governor in old Ondo State (now Ondo and Ekiti States) died in the early hours of Thursday, June 4 at the Afe Babalola teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti after a brief illness.

The IDF described Olumilua’s death as a monumental loss to the Ikere Kingdom, Ekiti and Ondo States and Nigeria at large which the deceased served in different capacities till he breathed his last.

In a condolence message signed by the National President of the IDF, Femi Ekundayo, FCIB, DF.IOD, on June 5, seen by Newsflash247, describing the demise of His Excellency Evangelist Bamidele Ishola Olumilua, member Board of Trustees of the IDF as is a huge loss to the Ikere Kingdom.

“While we mourn the passing of this great leader, a devoted Christian and father who spent his life in the service of God and mankind we are consoled by the knowledge that he contributed immensely to the political, economic and social development of Ondo and Ekiti States and the country at large.

“H.E Evangelist Bamidele Ishola Olumilua was a patriot and statesman per excellence that brought honour and dignity to his people and nation. He devoted his time on earth to the service of his people and God and contributed significantly to the progress of Ikere as a community, the old Ondo State and the growth of the Christ Apostolic Church where he was ordained as Evangelist.

“He was a career diplomat who served Nigeria in the foreign service and a notable politician. Late Evangelist Olumilua was elected Governor of old Ondo State in 1991 on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), a position he occupied between January 1992 and November 1993. He was at one time Chairman of the Nigerian Pilgrims Board and Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.

“While we pray the good Lord will give us the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, may the soul of Baba Olumilua rest in perfect peace”.

Similarly, the Paramount ruler of the town, Ogoga of lkere kingdom, Oba Adejimi Adu Alagbado has described the late former Governor of Old Ondo State, Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua as a distinguished lkere son who in his lifetime contributed his quota to Ekiti development.

In a condolence message made available on Friday, June 5, seen by Newsflash247, the monarch applauded the late Olumilua for his heroic triumph of the 1991 gubernatorial election in the Old Ondo state noting that the feat brought honour to Ikere community and the entire Ekiti people.

While noting that no man is infallible, he prayed that God would forgive all his shortcomings and grant him a blissful rest.
