Gov Akeredolu Convoy Killed Man In Ondo

There was tragedy on Sunday night, March 8, as the convoy of the Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, killed a 42 year old man named Jimoh Adams in Owo area of the state.

The governor was coming from Akoko where he went to receive some new members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, when his convoy caused the accident.

It was gathered that the accident occurred around 8:30pm on Sunday close to a technical college near Akeredolu’s campaign office in Owo.

According to the report learnt that a driver in the convoy of the governor on high speed rammed into Adams, who was on a motorcycle and crushed him to death.

Jimoh Adams was a close relation to Mr Bob Aladeniyi, a popular musician in Owo town.

The victim died on the spot and the governor’s convoy had to speed off with his crew to Akure while the people were shouting.

The people had to block the road on Sunday night to show their grievances over the incident.

Meanwhile, Jimoh Adams, a Muslim, was laid to rest today according to Islamic rites in his family house in Owo town where the tragedy took place.

A family member confirmed the incident and latest development on Monday morning, describing the victim’s death as painful.

According to the family member, the victim was a resident of Okedogbon area of Owo and is survived by a wife and children.

The source said, “He (Adams) has been buried according to Islamic rites in one of the family houses in Owo.

“What is even more painful is that he was returning from a family ceremony when the convoy rammed into the motorcycle he was riding on.”

Tee-Leo Ikoro, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the incident.

He said, “It is true the accident occurred yesterday (Sunday) in Owo but I just learnt about it this morning and we have started our investigation.

“I was able to gather that the man on the motorcycle was very scared by the speed of the convoy and ran into a vehicle.

“We have the vehicle with us already in the station even though the victim has been buried.”
