VIDEO: Woman Kidnapper who pretends to be mentally ill caught in Ibadan

A middle-aged woman suspected to be a kidnapper yet to be identified who is usually disguised as mentally ill to operate was on Wednesday, apprehended by residents of Alako, Apata area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

The suspect was said to be roaming the area aimlessly while some residents suspected her movement and began to monitor her movement.

Some vigilant residents, however, approached the madwoman and found in her bag some charms, Jazz rings, powders, body cream, money, handset, others in her pocket.

It was however gathered that the suspected kidnapper immediately removed the Sims card from the phone and swallowed it before the people could recover them from her.

In the viral video shared on social media by one of the residents, the woman confessed that she was sent by her husband.

It was learnt that the mob descended on the suspected madwoman who confessed to be acting as a mentally deranged woman to kidnap some children in the area.

She was said to have confessed sent by her husband to Ibadan said she had been in the kidnapping business for some time and pretending to be a madwoman.

An eyewitness who shared the video, Mr Segun Adedamola Oloyede, said some charms and ritual substances were also found in the suspect’s bag, and explained that “this woman was caught this afternoon around Alako, Apata area by some vigilant residents who had been monitoring her movement and confronted her.

“She was caught and it was discovered that she was actually not a madwoman but pretending and confessed to being a kidnapper while one phone was recovered from her.

“She confessed that she was sent by her husband”.
