Ekiti Govt Ready to Reconstruct Ajolagun Bridge

The Ekiti State government on Tuesday, March 17, has said plans were in progress to construct the Ajolagun Bridge in Ikere-Ekiti.

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly and the Indigene of the town led other members of the State Assembly, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon Gbenga Agbeyo and other top officials of the Ministry on an assessment visit to the Ajolagun Bridge in lkere-Ekiti, in preparation for the reconstruction of the bridge by the State Government.

Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye assured the people of the area of government willingness to a standard bridge which will stand the test of time.

He urged Ajolagun Community to be patient and cooperate with the contractor handling the project so as to enable him deliver on scheduled date.

Also, the Chairman, House Committee on Environment, Hon. Tunde Idowu reiterated government resolves to complete the reconstruction of the bridge in time.

Earlier the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Gbenga Agbeyo, while conducting them round the project site, said every machinery has been put in motion to ensure early completion of the bridge and appealed to the people to be patient with the government.

It will be recalled that the bridge was collapsed last year (2019) after a downpour, but was partially repaired using planks.

The Speaker also visited the ongoing dredging of River Osun at Moshood area of Ikere-Ekiti where he assured the people of early completion of the project and advise them to always dispose there refuse properly and avoid any action which can lead to flooding.
