Ekiti Election Tribunal: INEC Official Witnesses Disagree With APC, Fayemi Lawyers’

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Witnesses disagreed with APC and Fayemi lawyers’ on contents of documents used for the conduct of the July 14, 2018 election

Officials( Collation officers) of Independent National Electoral Commission who came to give evidence at the ongoing election petition tribunal on Thursday 8/11/2018 during cross-examination at Tribunal sitting in Abuja aver that collation officers cannot alter Form EC8A polling unit results

APC lawyer in an attempt to show that the manual used by INEC during the election contain some clauses that can allow for discretion to be exercised in order to alter results stressed that the schedule and manual at page 75 are all-encompassing.

However, Petitioners Counsel and the witnesses set the record straight that only officers posted to the units can exercise such discretion and at the polling unit with the knowledge of respective political parties without more.

The essence of the question by APC is to justify why the results issued by INEC at the respective polling units immediately after the election (pink copy)was different from the Certified True Copies purportedly used to declare Fayemi and as well commit INEC to say that they made honest mistake by grossly mutilating the results after election as earlier alleged by the petitioners

Tribunal adjourned till Tuesday 13/11/2018 at the instance of INEC
