Naira Marley’s Lawyer Clears the Air on Mohbad’s Death, Says No Bullying Involved
The lawyer of Nigerian singer and rapper, Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has debunked the rumours that his client had a hand in the death of his former protégé, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
Mohbad, who was signed to Naira Marley’s Marlian Music label in 2020, died on September 12 under mysterious circumstances, which have sparked police investigations and a coroner inquest.
However, in a video chat with social media influencer, Daddy Freeze, Naira Marley’s lawyer, Olalekan Ojo, said there is no evidence that his client bullied or harassed the late Mohbad.
He said, “As for Naira Marley, I believe very strongly that no matter how hard you look, you will not find a single incident where Naira Marley bullied him.”
Ojo also clarified what happened in a viral video in which a controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, tried to bully Mohbad but was stopped by another singer, Zlatan Ibile, during a video shoot.
He said the video was taken out of context and that Larry, Mohbad, and Zlatan settled their issue and ate “Amala together after the incident”. He said there is a longer version of the video which showed the trio together.
He recalled, “Sometimes in June 2023, he (Sam Larry) came to Elegushi beach and heard some musicians were shooting a musical video, so he wanted to see who they were. Remember that in that video, he said so it’s even you.
“That video is a nine-second video, and it will interest you to know that there is a longer version showing these guys eating Amala together after the incident.”
Ojo expressed his condolences to the family and fans of Mohbad and urged the public to refrain from spreading false and malicious stories about his death.
