COVID-19: Fayemi locked down popular Hotel in Ekiti during wedding ceremony

Newsflash247 gathered the report that a wedding ceremony was in progress and pictures were already been taken when COVID-19 Task Force swooped on the venue of the event and ordered everyone out of the premises.

The Kayode Fayemi government on Saturday, August 1, locked down a popular hotel; Delight Hotel in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital for violating the COVID-19 Rule on the number of persons permitted to be in gathering at the same time.

Newsflash247 gathered the report that a wedding ceremony was in progress and pictures were already been taken when COVID-19 Task Force swooped on the venue of the event and ordered everyone out of the premises.

It is yet to be seen if the Hotel will be re-opened in the near future as it plays hosts to major personalities in the city.

Last week, the State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Wale Fapohunda and eight others have tested positive for the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Meanwhile, Governor Kayode Fayemi on Saturday, has tested negative for COVID-19.

The Governor, who went on isolation eleven days ago after testing positive for the virus, expressed gratitude for the prayers and good wishes received from well-wishers while the period lasted.

Governor Fayemi, in a tweet on Saturday, reminded Nigerians of the need to sustain efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Ekiti State has recorded 132 cases of the novel Coronavirus with two deaths, as of Friday evening.

On July 22, Newsflash247 had reported that Fayemi joined a growing list of state governors and other high profile Nigerians who have tested positive for Coronavirus. They include the governors of Kaduna, Oyo, Bauchi, Ebonyi and Delta states.

Many of them have since recovered from the virus while few others died of the disease.
