Court remands Oduduwa University founder, Adedoyin over OAU student’s death

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has remanded the founder of Oduduwa University Ile-Ife, Rahman Adedoyin, over the death of Timothy Adegoke a postgraduate student at the Obafemi Awolowo University.

It would be recalled that Adedoyin travelled to Ile-Ife on 5 November for an examination at O.A.U distance learning centre in Moro, Osun state.

He was declared missing when family and friends could not reach him but were later found dead.

The last time his relations heard of him, he was at the Hilton hotel and resort where he lodged, a hotel owned by Adedoyin.

All suspects arrested in connection with the crime including Rahman Adedoyin have been transferred to Abuja.

Adedoyin in an ex parte motion filed along with fundamental rights enforcement suits prayed the court to admit him to bail pending the conclusion of an investigation by the police.

He also asked the court on the alternative to allow him access to quality medical facilities of his choice pending the conclusion of the police investigation and possible arraignment.

In his ruling, Justice Inyang Ekwo declined Adedoyin’s prayers, while he adjourned the case till December 19 for further hearing.
