College Workers Protest Over Ekiti Govt Termination Of Senior Staff

Workers of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti in Ekiti State on Tuesday staged a peaceful protest within the Institution premises with various placards to show their grievances over alleged disengagement of some administrative staff of the College.

Ekiti government on Monday, April 8 has sacked all the Staff of the institution who got promoted from Level 14 to 15 as well as those on Level 15 and above.

The workers under the aegis of the Senior Staff Association of Colleges of Education alleged that their affected officials were disengage recently by the Governing Council following the implementation of the recommendation of the visitation panel set up by the State Government.

The visitation panel had earlier recommended the position occupied by the sacked workers which includes; Senior Deputy Director, and Senior Deputy Bursar were not known to the law establishing the institution.

However, the South West Zonal Coordinator of the Senior Staff Association of Colleges of Education, Mr. Ebun Atinuke and Ikere College Branch Chairman, Mr. Olusona Olarenwaju said the affected staff should have been reverted to their old position rather than outright disengagement from the service.
