Codes To Dial If You Don’t Want Your Number Blocked By NCC

The Nigeria Communication Commission, (NCC) had been directed to block unregistered sim cards which are over nine million.

The minister of communication, Dr Isa Patami said that the telecom operators will block unregistered sim cards until users comply with proper registration procedures.

In line with the new directive, Nigerians whose sim cards are not registered may soon be restricted or barred from using the mobile phone numbers.

If you want to confirm whether or not your phone number is properly registered, here are the numbers to dial:

MTN – dial *789*1#

Airtel – dial *746#

9mobile – dial 746 or 200

Glo – text REG to 746 or 3456

Meanwhile, the NCC has approved the spectrum for the trial of 5G services in the country.

The executive vice chairman of the commission, Professor Umar Danbatta, disclosed this at the opening of the maiden International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Digital African Week on Tuesday, August 27, in Abuja.

Danbatta said that Nigeria had exceeded the 30% target set by the National Broadband Plan of 2013 to 2018 and stood at 33.31% at the end of June 2019.

He said that the commission had developed framework to facilitate the deployment of broadband infrastructure across the country through the licensing of Infrastructure Companies (INFRACO).

Danbatta said the framework would also deploy metro and inter-city fiber and broadband Point of Access with a minimum capacity of IOG bps across the 774 local government areas of Nigeria.
