Fuel Subsidy Removal: Falana Meets Tinubu In Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu received human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), at the Presidential Villa on Saturday, June 3, for a private discussion on the state of the nation.

The meeting focused on the implications of the petrol subsidy removal, which has sparked protests and threats of strike by labour unions and civil society groups.

Falana also shared his views on how to recover looted funds from foreign countries and fight corruption effectively.

The meeting was a follow-up to a letter that Falana had earlier written to President Tinubu, offering suggestions on how to revive the economy and succeed in his administration.

A source close to President Tinubu confirmed the meeting and said; “Tinubu values the input of respected Nigerians like Falana in his governance. He will continue to consult with them and other stakeholders, including those in the opposition and civil rights movements.”

Falana also confirmed the meeting in a phone interview. He said: “I met with President Tinubu on Saturday.

“We discussed subsidy and how to tackle waste in government and recover looted funds. The aim is just to ensure that the economy picks up quickly.”
