I’ve made 2,000 Kogi persons into millionaires – Gov Yahaya Bello

One of the Presidential aspirants under the All Progressives Congress, Governor Yahaya Bello on Friday said his administration had turned no fewer than 2,000 persons in Kogi into millionaires.

The Kogi governor spoke in Abuja at the ongoing “Second Annual GYB Seminar for Nigeria’s Political and Crime Correspondents”.

Bello also expressed the wish to appoint Nigeria’s first female Vice President, if he gets his party’s presidential ticket for the 2023 elections and its approval to choose his running mate.

The Governor was responding to a question about his economic plans for the country including his recent pledge to make 20 million Nigerians millionaires by 2030 if he succeeds President Muhammadu Buhari.

“We have made nothing less than 2,000 millionaires in Kogi,” Bello said.

On his choice of VP, he added: “If I am given the free hand to choose, I will not leave the constituency of my mother. I would love to have the first female VP in 2023.”

Last Saturday, Bello formally declared to run for President in 2023, with a promise to build on Buhari’s legacy by adopting the Igbo apprenticeship system to create millionaires.

Bello also revealed that he will put an end to the activities of bandits, Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in one year if elected as president.

“The whole world will bow for Nigeria after 365 days as president as security issues will be fixed,” Bello boasted.

The presidential aspirant promised to ensure that governors took responsibility for security in their states, stressing that he would hold them responsible for breaches if elected as Nigeria’s president in 2023.

“If I become the President, I will ensure that every chief executive of the various federating units sits up and do their jobs. I will not tolerate any lackadaisical attitude or passing of the buck to the centre. I will ensure that various federating units are strengthened.

“As a president, I will supervise and ensure that all security agencies carry out their duties as expected. I will punish those not doing well,” Mr Bello said.

The governor added that “Majority of some of these crimes are politically motivated, especially the recent ones we are witnessing. However, the issue of security can never be brought out to the public so you will not expose your country to danger.”
