BREAKING: Magu released after spending 10 days in detention
He was arrested on July 6, 2020 by security forces to answer questions by the panel headed by a former Appeal Court judge, Ayo Salami, and had remained in detention since that period.
Suspended Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has been released on bail after 10 days in detention.
His release comes few hours after the Nigeria Police Force denied detaining him.
The police had claimed that Magu was being held by a presidential panel probing him for mismanaging recovered loots.
He was arrested on July 6, 2020 by security forces to answer questions by the panel headed by a former Appeal Court judge, Ayo Salami, and had remained in detention since that period.
Mr Magu was accused of being unable to account for the interest accrued to recovered funds of about N550bn.
He was also accused of insubordination and purchase of property in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

Magu’s release comes hours after news broke that 12 EFCC directors had been suspended in connection with Magu’s probe.
Some of the directors affected by the action were involved in investigating Abubakar Malami, Attorney-General of the federation.
